Rasmussen: Cut Postal Services, Don't Raise Stamp Prices
By James Raymond Reese on Jul 31, 2009 | In News | Send feedback »

A growing number of Americans are saying the Post Office should reduce services instead of continually raising the price of a stamp. Reduction of services is also favored over government subsidies to keep the USPS operating at current levels.
A government-subsidized postal service might have been needed in 1776 but it's getting harder to justify another money-losing government bureaucracy when FedEx and UPS can perform the same service and, in a lot of cases, more quickly.

Obama's Approval Rating Slides Again in the Past 24 Hours

Only 28% of America's likely voters "strongly approve" of President Obama's handling of his job. 40% now "strongly disapprove." These numbers are from the latest daily polling done by Rasmussen among likely voters and they are the worst the president has yet faced.
The approval numbers are dropping on an almost daily basis.
Only a small percentage of Americans feel the stimulus package worked at all. Most consider it a wasted trillion dollars. Fewer than 30% believe Obama's healthcare package will reduce medical costs. In fact, most think the costs will go up.
The bailouts haven't struck a positive chord. Neither has the nationalization of two of the Big 3 automakers.

Gallup Poll Shows Obama's Approval Ratings At All-Time Low
By James Raymond Reese on Jul 30, 2009 | In News, Commentary | Send feedback »
The latest Gallup figures for the president can not be cause for happiness at the White House. Adding all of the "Approve" categories from "somewhat" to "strongly" together, the approval rating has dropped to 53 while the disapproval numbers have increased to 39.
The is particularly bad news for the president. Gallup interviews all adults while some other polling organizations poll only those likely to vote. This difference means Gallup is polling groups of people (young people for instance) who have opinions but who don't always go to the polls in droves.
The latest Rasmussen poll results will be released later today. Rasmussen interviews "likely voters." It will be interesting to see how much of a difference the polling strategies make in the president's approval ratings.

Only 23% of Americans are still gullible enough to think health care costs will go down under Obama's socialized program.
Fully half of the nation's adults disapprove of the presidents performance.
In a generic poll, Republicans now have a slight edge over Democrats for congress in 2010 and the number are getting worse each week for the Democrats.

Black Cambridge officers apparently know their fellow officers well and they're not falling for the race-baiting this time. Says one: I supporter him. I voted for him. I will not again.

By James Raymond Reese on Jul 27, 2009 | In News | Send feedback »
While Ford Motor Company continues to enjoy favorable opinions by the majority of Americans, the impression of General Motors and Chrysler are dropping perilously. The main reason seems to be GM and Chrysler took a handout, Ford didn't.
